Back to Water Testing

Legionella Bacteria may contaminate and grow in water systems such as cooling towers and hot and cold water services.

They can survive low water temperatures and thrive at temperatures which are between 20C-45C if conditions are right, e.g. if the correct nutrients are present such as rust, sludge, scale, algae and other bacteria.

As an employer or a person in control of the premises, you are legally required by the H.S.E. (Health and Safety Executive) to carry out the following:
1. Identify and assess the sources of risk.
2. Prepare a scheme (or course of action) for preventing or controlling the risk.
3. Implement and manage the scheme, appointing a person to be managerially responsible.
4. Keep records for a minimum of five years and check that what has been carried out has been effective.
